About DCS World

Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) is a free-to-play digital battlefield game. Our dream is to offer the most authentic and realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks and ships possible. The free download includes a vast mission area of the Caucasus region and Black Sea that encompasses much of Georgia. It also includes the flyable Russian Sukhoi Su-25T ground attack aircraft and the famous WWII North American TF-51D fighter.
The download comes with the most powerful mission planner ever designed, full network play and more than 145 AI weapons systems, 113 ground vehicles and trains, 16 Ships and 73 AI aircraft permitting you to plan and play highly sophisticated missions. DCS World is massively extensible through additional DCS modules as well as user-made add-ons and mods which you can purchase and download from our site.

DCS is a true "sandbox" simulation that is also designed to cover multiple time periods of interest such as WWII, Vietnam, Gulf War and others. As examples of products progressing to completion for DCS, "Normandy 1944" is in final phase of development and "Persian Gulf" is close behind.

DCS World is fundamentally a deep, authentic and realistic simulation game designed also to offer a more relaxed game play to suit the user and his particular level of experience and training. The ambition is to hand hold users from novice pilot all the way to the most advanced and sophisticated operator of such complex weapons systems as the A-10C or the Mirage 2000C. The only next step is the real thing!

About Thrustmaster HOTAS :

Designed for simmers, by simmers:

The HOTAS WARTHOG™ joystick is the result of an intense collaboration between Thrustmaster's development teams and members of the simmer community. Exchanges and studies were carried out constantly throughout the product's development phase, in order to create a joystick which meets the most specific and precise requirements of the experts. The result is a replica set of the joystick, dual throttle system and dual throttle control panel of the U.S. Air Force A-10C attack aircraft.

With T.A.R.G.E.T software that allows for total interaction between different Thrustmaster USB controllers, with simplified configurations in simulators, and the use of a single preset for all controllers, The HOTAS WARTHOG™ joystick is ready for an enlarged ecosystem including among other development, new Add-On for Joystick.

DCS World 2.1 Update 1

Today we are releasing the first update to DCS World 2.1, which can include the DCS: Normandy 1944 Map and/or the DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range Map. Over the past week, we have been carefully noting all feedback and we will do our best to address all concerns. For this first update, we have made the following primary changes.

For following week, we plan to add several new DCS: World War II Assets Pack units including anti-aircraft units, beach fortifications, barrage balloons, and several others.

DCS World 1.5 Status

In parallel to DCS World 2.1, we are also creating the next update for DCS World 1.5. The primary addition will be the support for the DCS: World War II Assets Pack. This update will be coming soon.

DCS World War II News

With the Early Access, Alpha release of the DCS: Normandy 1944 Map and the DCS: World War II Assets Pack, the team is very focused on moving these projects from Alpha to Beta, and then Beta to Final release as soon as possible. Our teams devoted to these projects are working hard and making great progress.

A big part of this effort is fleshing out the DCS: World War II Assets Pack. We have included some work-in-progress images of new Asset Pack units coming to DCS World: C-47, Ju-88, Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma, and Sd.Kfz.251.

We are also continuing to develop the P-47 and Me 262, as part of the original Kickstarter plan.

This is a huge year for DCS World War II that will continue to grow and improve as the year progresses.

New Damage Model Update

In order to bring DCS World to a new level of combat simulation, an improved damage model system is certainly required. Our team has diligently been working on this new and improved system and it will entail the following features:

We have moved from tracking 30 damage variables to several hundred damage variables. This includes such variables as each airframe spars, engine components, fuel tanks, oil, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, control surfaces, ammo boxes, etc.
All elements have unique durability values that are used calculate of bullet penetration into the structure
There will be no more statistical accumulation of damage, so for example, you can't tear off a wing by simply shooting at its tip
All elements can now be torn off by destroying their attachment points or airframe elements (wing spars for example)
Damage can be distributed from one element to another by fire
All liquids will flow out from holes, and this will result in decreasing effectiveness of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

News of Su-33 for DCS World
Currently in the Eagle Dynamics update hangar is our Su-33 for DCS World / Flaming Cliffs 3. This carrier-borne aircraft is in the final stages of receiving a big, FREE update that includes much improved flight dynamics and the addition of several new
systems. This will bring our Su-33 much more aligned with its real-world counterpart.

eatures of this upcoming Su-33 update include:
Professional Flight Model (PFM)
More detailed and accurate simulation of the wing control surfaces that include the leading and trailing edge flaps and the differential ailerons. In addition to the conventional differential stabilizers, canard behavior has also been improved for more realistic behavior. The Flight Control System (FCS) will automatically reconfigure itself depending on the flight mode.
The adaptations that make the Su-33 aircraft carrier-capable have been updated and improved to include the wing-fold mechanism, reinforced landing gear struts, and the inclusion of high-gain nose wheel steering for use on crowded carrier decks.
The physical mechanisms by which the arrestor hook engages the aircraft carrier arrestor wire has been greatly improved. Correct physics have been applied to the arrestor wire and its’ interaction with the aircraft.
The engines now have a “special mode” that adds up to 12,800 kg of thrust (instead of the normal 12,500 kg of thrust). This mode also includes realistic operating time restrictions.
A new FCS mode used when aerial refueling has also been implemented. When in this mode and the control stick is released, the aircraft will automatically maintain level flight. This FCS mode allows fine-control and thus making it easier to make contact with the tanker within a pitch range of plus or minus 5 degrees and of a roll angle of plus or minus 10 degrees.
The Auto-Thrust Control (ATC) is used for automatic speed holding and can be fine-tuned with a set speed switch. This can be useful with landing on the carrier.
The automatic collision avoidance system (“Uvod” mode) is now included and allows safe nap-of-the-earth flying.

DCS World 1.5.7 Update
This week we have released a new update to Open Beta DCS World 1.5, with the primary new feature being the support for the DCS: World War II Assets Pack.

Although primarily developed for the DCS: Normandy 1944 Map, these World War II period units work just as well in the Caucasus map. We hope this provides you another option for creating engaging World War II themed missions.

Announcing the P-51D: Charnwood Campaign

Created by the same team behind the Spitfire: Epsom Campaign, work is moving rapidly on this historically-based campaign for the P-51D over Normandy in July 1944. The Charnwood campaign reproduces missions P-51D missions flown in support of the allied breakout of Normandy. Given the Mustang’s combination of air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities (bombs and rockets), this campaign will offer a wealth of mission types and challenges. Each mission is based on a real mission, down to weather, times, squadrons, mission tasks, and allied and axis unit placement.

Coming Autumn 2017.
